The wait on sunny winter

I have been having a hard time deciding exactly what to write about because there is a lot going on.
We were in Slab City a few weeks ago and a very excited, sweet man kept telling me "You know how to make God laugh? Tell him your plans!"

Adam and I naively understimated the logistical consecuences of having a home birth and now we find ourselves two months after Teal's birth and still in California.

Sure, we have been moving. From San Diego to LA back and forth getting paperwork, passports, certifications. The other day I was feeling overwhelmed and crazy with the seemingly eternal burocracy of life that I had write down in a notebook: "Somos seres humanos reales. No solo letras en papeles." (We're real human beigns. Not just letters in papers).

We also witnessed the despersonification of our identities with official papers turning ñs to ns and ignoring accents. Oh well. Such is life. We know who we really are.

But I'm telling everything in the wrong order. Let's see.
First we found out that we needed to get an appointment to register Teal. This was back on December, just a few days after his birth, and the next available appointment was on February 11th. Two months from then.

Those two months were just about waiting and trying to find good places to rest and get used to our new form of existence as a family.
We bounced around houses for the first 4 weeks or so, and then we went camping at a friend's land East of San Diego. It was nice to be outdoors with Teal, he's really adaptable.
The postpartum period was, as it usually is (as far as I know), difficult. But as the days passed we have all grown to know each other and understand each other better.

The weather is, for the most part, absolutely gorgeous in Souther California, and it makes everything a lot better. We spend beautiful hours under the warm sun hula hooping, playing music and listening to the ocean. Life is beautiful and the world is beautiful. Even if sometimes it becomes hard to remember it.
A few weeks ago we went to Slab City with Perry and saw Kaleb, Lauren and Clementine. It was nice to taste the excitement of traveling again even for a little while and talking to other hippie traveling families.

Teal is growing incredibly fast and learning a lot about the world around him. Looking at him, holding him, feeling the warmth of his body and the texture of his hair are all amazing, beautiful times. And breasfeeding is amazing! One of THE MOST wonderful things in life! He is becoming a lot more social and loving to make new friends. He smiles and plays facial expression games. He loves looking at new stuff. I'm really excited for my mom and the rest of my family to meet him.

Next week we're hopefully heading East to Arizona and then South to Chihuahua to visit my mom and we will see where life takes us from there.

We have been missing nature quite a lot and feeling extremely happy when we get to enjoy fresh air and sunlight. Hopefully we will settle down somewhere green and sunny, where we can grow good healthy food and learn about plants, medicine and traditional midwifery. The possibilities are endless.

P.S. When I acess a computer again there will be more photos!
